Spread cost matters

FxPro's typical spread on EUR/USD is 1.2–1.5 pips on Standard accounts. At 1 standard lot, that's $12–$15 cost to enter and exit — your position needs to move at least that far in your favour just to break even. Use the pip value above to see the exact cost at your lot size.

FxPro's cTrader accounts offer raw spreads from 0.0 pips with a separate per-trade commission — often cheaper for active traders placing multiple trades per day.

How to use this calculator

01

Select your instrument

Choose from forex pairs (majors, crosses, exotics), metals (XAU/USD gold, XAG/USD silver), indices (NAS100, US30) or crypto (BTC/USD). The calculator automatically applies the correct pip size and contract specification for each instrument class.
02

Enter lot size and optional N pips

Type your lot size. For stop-loss or take-profit sizing, enter the number of pips in the 'Number of Pips' field — the calculator instantly shows the total value in your account currency.
03

See all three lot sizes at once

The breakdown panel shows pip value for 0.01, 0.10 and 1.00 lots simultaneously — no need to recalculate for different position sizes.
04

Check the formula

Every result shows the exchange rate used and the calculation formula — useful for verifying against your broker's platform or for position sizing spreadsheets.

Frequently asked questions

What is a pip?

A pip (percentage in point) is the smallest standard price move in a currency pair — the 4th decimal place for most pairs (0.0001), the 2nd decimal for JPY pairs (0.01). A move from EUR/USD 1.0850 to 1.0860 is 10 pips.

What is the pip value for EUR/USD on a USD account?

Exactly $10.00 per standard lot — fixed, regardless of the current rate. This is because USD is the quote currency. 0.10 lot = $1.00/pip, 0.01 lot = $0.10/pip. No conversion needed.

What is a pip for gold (XAU/USD)?

For gold, 1 pip = $0.01 (one cent). Gold is quoted to 2 decimal places (e.g., 2350.15). With a contract size of 100 troy ounces per standard lot, the pip value is exactly $1.00 per standard lot — fixed, regardless of the gold price. Converted to your account currency using live ECB rates.

How does the NAS100 pip calculator work?

NAS100 moves in index points, not forex pips. The point value shown is indicative based on standard CFD contract conventions (~$1.00 per point per standard lot). Always verify with FxPro in MT4/MT5: right-click the symbol → Specification.

Why use the 'Number of Pips' field?

Enter your stop-loss distance (e.g. 40 pips) to instantly see the total value at risk for that trade. $10,000 account, 1% risk = $100. With a 40-pip stop on EUR/USD and 0.25 standard lots, $100 ÷ (40 × $10/lot) = 0.25 lots. No manual multiplication needed.

Can I use my broker's actual rate instead of ECB?

Yes. Click '⚙ Use custom rate' to enter a custom rate. The calculator recalculates from that rate instead of ECB. ECB rates are accurate for position sizing, but your live broker rate may differ by a few pips.

Why does GBP/USD pip value in EUR change daily?

GBP/USD pip value in USD is fixed ($10/lot), but converting to EUR requires multiplying by the current EUR/USD rate. As EUR/USD moves, the EUR pip value changes. The calculator updates this automatically from live ECB rates.

Are these pip values live?

Forex pip values use ECB reference rates (Frankfurter API) updated each business day. Live BTC/ETH prices come from CoinGecko (free, real-time). Gold and silver use fixed contract specifications combined with live ECB USD rates. Index values are indicative.
